My Humanitarian and Community Development Initiatives

Over the past few years, it has been an honor and privilege to be around such inspirational people who have helped me craft and bring some of my visions to reality. I have learned so much from so many people and for that I am thankful. I have been humbled by the support and encouragement that several initiatives that I spearheaded have received. I look forward to continued growth and progress for the organizations that have really helped shape who I am and how I contribute to those around me. Please find below 3 organizations that I helped found:

Al-Mubadarah: Arab Empowerment Initiative
Branded as Al-Mubadarah, the Arab Empowerment Initiative is an independent, non-political, non-ideological, and not-for-profit corporation that educates the public about Arab development issues and promotes the cooperative engagement of diverse professionals from the Arab Diaspora and other communities. Al-Mubadarah is devoted to strengthening professional ties in and between the Arab World and its Diaspora through innovative human and institutional capacity building programs.
Al-Mubadarah envisions an Arab Diaspora that is actively engaged and invested in the development of Arab communities, both in the Arab world and in the Diaspora itself. Al-Mubadarah also envisions an Arab global community that is inter-connected, works collaboratively to tackle many of the Arab world’s problems, and, by extension, fosters positive international, cross-cultural and multi-ethnic relationships. Read more: http://www.arabempowerment.org/. Iraqi Orphan Initiative
The Iraqi Orphan Initiative (IOI), is an international advocacy effort that aims to shed light on the plight of the 4.5 million Orphans in Iraq and the hardships and realities that they face due to lack of sufficient resources, funding and attention. In addition to many children orphaned as a result of the conflict and war, children are abandoned due to a terminal illness, physical deformities due to war or birth defects, and financial burden. Children are also subject to child labor, human trafficking and sex trafficking, no education, starvation, and abuse. IOI is creating platforms for, and facilitate discussions about, issues of: Funding allocation to developing sustainable psychosocial programs and orphan care programs; Adoption to address laws that restrict it and the difficulty of adopting across religious boundaries; Lack of sufficient social service infrastructure in Iraq; NGO funding and programs and how they can better include children/orphans; and the US military responsibly/accountability; and other related subjects.
